This page is for current and forthcoming members' challenges (The 2023 challenge is here, the 2021 challenges pages here; 2020 ones here; 2019 here and photos of earlier challenge entries can be found on this page). EXETER QUILTERS CHAIRMAN’S CHALLENGE 2024/25 Collect an empty gift bag with a numbered label from Julie or Jane. Put fabric of your choice in the bag. We would suggest you add at least a metre of fabric in total, with maybe one large piece plus some smaller pieces. Feel free to add more fabric if you wish. You can also include "notions" such as buttons, zips and embellishments. Imagine receiving it and deciding what you could make with it. Return your filled bag to Jane or Julie, preferably by the November evening meeting. Bags can be accepted until the end of November but please let Jane or Julie know your bag will be late. In December 2024 participants will be given a filled bag to take home. You can make anything you like from the materials you've been provided with. Examples are bags, quillows, table runners, cushions, dolls, wall hangings etc. You should aim to use as much as possible from the bag but don't need to use it all. You may add fabric or extras yourself but the majority must come from the bag and be recognised by the recipient as their own contributions. If you don’t use all the given fabric just pop it back in the bag along with your finished piece. Please don't talk to anyone about your project because you won’t know whose bag you have or who has your bag, lets keep it secret and enjoy the surprise. Bags will be returned to the original owners at the June 2025 evening meeting for a grand reveal, so you have to complete the challenge by then. We plan to display the finished items as part of our 2025 exhibition. If you experience any difficulties doing this please get in touch with Jane or Julie. Be creative and have fun! |
